The Eagle And The Panda Commemorative Plate

$29.99

"The Eagle and the Panda" commemorative plate was produced to commemorate the re-establishment of diplomatic and trade relations between the United States and China as per the Communiqué of January 1, 1979. This limited edition porcelain plate was designed by Zhu Bohua for the China Trade Corporation. This collector plate was part of the world-wide limited edition of only 10,000 (plate number will differ from image). The plate is numbered and done on pure white T'zuchou porcelain with a border of 24 karat gold surrounding it.

The first plate in the edition was given to Mr. Sun Yun, who was the leading member of the Central Committee of The Communist Party of China on November 10, 1981 and the next in the edition was given to Ronald Reagan.

The plate comes in its original box (not shown) along with a photo copy of the original 1 page story of the plate and a photo copy of the original order form. It does not come with the wooden display stand or the original certificate of authenticity.

There were only a very limited quantity of these plates available because a large portion of the 10,000 plates produced were heavily damaged during shipment from China back in 1981. It was to be the first in a series of plates commemorating US and China relations, but the series was never completed.
